The future is now

Yesterday's Dagens Industri reported on a new project initiated by the Chinese outside of S:t Petersburg, called the "Baltic Pearl" (pictures here). They are building a city for ca 35 000 people, equipped with everything the international businessman could need. Manufacturing facilities in the automotive industry are also planned. The total cost is 1.25 B USD, and the targeted completion time is 6 - 8 years.

In the meantime, Europe is still debating whether or not we should allow globalization, as if that is an issue in the first place. The leading opponent is of course France, but other's are not slow to follow the rhetoric, including our own beloved Swedish prime minister.

The beautiful thing is that the world no longer evolves around Europe, nor can be stopped by Europe. Even if the nationalists and socialists do their best, they will at most destroy the lives of their own peoples. The rest of the world is moving, and the pace is quickening.

It was a long time in world history since the options were this stark: Either stagnatation and slow decay, or competition and drive. Good thing that us humans are designed to enjoy challenges, and that we become happy when we feel that we can affect change.

You got to love life.
